- 1825 : Bien avant la découverte de la bruyère, la famille COMOY fabriquait à Avignon, petit village près de Saint-Claude, des pipes en buis pour les "grognards" de Napoléon.

1825 : Well before the discovery of briarwood the COMOY family manufactured pipes in the small village of Avignon, near to Saint-Claude, mostly in boxwood for the "Grumblers" of the Army of Napoleon.

- 1850 : Naissance de Henry COMOY, fondateur de la marque.

- 1856 : Découverte de la bruyère, et surtout du traitement spécial pour son utilisation dans la fabrication de la pipe. Saint-Claude devient le berceau et la capitale mondiale de la pipe. Aucune pipe bruyère n'est encore fabriquée ailleurs.
La Maison COMOY devient le premier fabricant de pipes de Saint-Claude.

1856 : Discovery of briarwood and particularly the special treatment it required for the making of pipes. Saint-Claude becomes the birthplace of briar pipe manufactures and the world capital of pipe-making.

- 1870 : Henry COMOY, prisonnier en Suisse, retrouve ses cousins CHAPUIS, et alors germe l'idée d'une association.

1870 : Henri COMOY, prisoner of war in Switzerland meets his cousins the Chapuis and ruminates the idea of an association.

- 1879 : Henry COMOY émigre à Londres avec quelques techniciens de son usine Sanclaudienne et monte la première fabrique anglaise de pipes, H. COMOY & C° Ltd. L'usine de Saint-Claude fournit les ébauchons et les têtes.

1879 : Henry COMOY emigrates to London with some of his technicians from Saint-Claude and establishes the first English pipe factory in England H. COMOY & C° LTD. The Saint-Claude factory supplies them with briarwood and pipe bowls.

- 1922 : Après la Première Guerre mondiale, l'association COMOY et CHAPUIS devient effective et la Société de Saint-Claude prend le nom de CHAPUIS-COMOY & Cie.

1922 : After the First World War the association COMOY and CHAPUIS is realised and the Saint-Claude factory becomes CHAPUIS COMOY & Cie.

- 1924 : Mort de Henry de COMOY. Ses fils Paul et Adrien prennent la direction des usines de Saint-Claude et Londres avec leurs cousins Émile et Louis CHAPUIS.

1924 : Death of Henri COMOY. His sons Paul and Adrien assume the direction of the factories in Saint-Claude and London assisted by their cousins Emile and Louis Chapuis.

- 1928 : Londres est capable de fabriquer ses pipes seule, et afin de développer Saint-Claude, il se crée la marque CHACOM en utilisant les trois premières lettres du nom des associés. Jusqu'en 1939 la marque CHACOM sera connue seulement en France, Belgique et Suisse afin de ne pas gêner les pipes COMOY qui ont les mêmes critères de forme et de qualité.

1928 : London now able to produce their own pipes, and in order to develop the Saint-Claude factory, the brand CHACOM is created, using the first three letters of the COMOY and CHAPUIS families. Up till 1939 CHACOM was offered only in France, Belgium and Switzerland in order not to embarrass the COMOY pipes which had the same shapes and qualities.

- 1932 : Grave crise économique à Saint-Claude. Afin de surmonter ce cap, la Société CHAPUIS-COMOY & Cie fusionne avec la société LA BRUYÈRE dont elle prend le nom. C'est la plus grosse entreprise mondiale de pipes : 450 ouvriers. Les ébauchons sont amenés en wagonnets du séchoir aux ateliers d'ébauchage.

1932 : The world economic crisis reaches Saint-Claude. To weather this problem Chapuis Comoy & Cie joins with another company under the name of LA BRUYERE, forming the biggest pipe concern in the world with 450 workpeople. Big trucks were needed to transfer the briar blocks from the drying shed to the factory.

- 1945 : Après la seconde Guerre mondiale CHACOM a son entière liberté commerciale et part à la conquête avec une collection complète et moderne.

1945 : After the Second World War CHACOM assumes its entire commercial liberty and launches a complete and modern range of pipes.

- 1946 : CHACOM, première marque sur les marchés français et belge.

1946 : Chacom becomes the principal brand in France and Belgium.

- 1947-1948 : CHACOM première marque française dans les pays Scandinaves, en Allemagne, puis aux Amériques, etc...

- 1957 : La société LA BRUYÈRE, devant l'ampleur commerciale de la marque CHACOM reprend sa raison sociale CHAPUIS-COMOY & Cie.

1957 : In face of the commercial preponderance of the brand CHACOM the company La Bruyère returns to the name of CHAPUIS COMOY & Cie.

- 1964 : Mort d'Adrien COMOY. Son fils Pierre lui succède à Londres. M. REED est P.D.G. à Saint-Claude.

1964 : Death of Adrien COMOY. His son Pierre succeeds to him in London. Mr REED is the Chairman and Managing Director in Saint-Claude.

- 1965 : Première marque française au Japon.

- 1971 : Après avoir récupéré son indépendance vis-à-vis de la Maison COMOY de Londres, Yves Grenard, petit cousin de Pierre COMOY, dirige la société CHAPUIS-COMOY & Cie et reprend l'agence exclusive de H. COMOY Ltd pour la France.

1971 : Having recovered its independence from COMOYS of London, Yves GRENARD, second cousin of Pierre COMOY, takes over the Direction of Chapuis Comoy & Cie and at the same time the exclusive sale of H. COMOY & Ltd, in France.

- 1978 : Création en collaboration avec Pierre MOREL, artisan sculpteur indépendant, de pipes entièrement fait main sous l'appellation Chacom Grand Cru (Naja, Fleur de Bruyère).

1978 : Pierre MOREL, independent free-hand pipe maker, creates for Chacom a line completely hand made the Chacom Grand Cru. He is the creator of the free-hand shapes Naja and "Fleur de Bruyère".

- 1987 : Intégration de Pierre MOREL à Chapuis Comoy.

1987 : Pierre MOREL joins the team Chapuis-Comoy as full-time.

- 1994 : Reprise du fonds de commerce de la Société ROPP.

1994 : Chapuis-Comoy integrates ROPP company.

- 1996 : Première création d'une pipe design en collaboration avec Claude ROBIN : La CHACOM VOLUTE.

- 1997 : Premier groupe Français distribué en Russie et dans les pays de l'Est.

- 1998 : Lancement du deuxième modèle design Volute.

- 1999 : Yves GRENARD, Président de la chambre syndicale signe un contrat de progrès pour le développement de l'industrie de la pipe. L'axe principal est la collaboration avec des designers chargés de la mise en place d'une nouvelle collection "PASTEL".

1999 : The Pipe Trade Association signed a contract with the authorities for developing pipe industries. One of the action is the co-operation with designers who create the new PASTEL Collection and specially the HEDO and CYCLADE for Chacom.

- 2001 : Création du troisième design VOLUTE et lancement d'une nouvelle gamme MILLENIUM dont un nouveau modèle sera créé tous les ans pendant mille ans. Mise en place des modèles CYCLADE
et HEDO de la collection "PASTEL".

2001 : Yves GRENARD designed for Chacom the MILLENIUM, a new line for one thousand years as a new shape will be designed each year.

- 2002 : Ouverture du marché chinois.

2002 : Introduction of Chacom in China

- 2003 : Création d'un nouveau modèle design par Erwin VAN HANDENHOVEN.

2003 : Another design line by Erwin VAN HANDENHOVEN with black or nacre insert.
